Custom UI & Brand Design Language

— Leica®

The Leitz Phone 1 brings Leica’s iconic camera experience into the everyday, blending precision photography with a seamless mobile interface. Created exclusively for the Japanese market in partnership with Sharp, the phone pays tribute to Ernst Leitz II and the brand’s legacy of innovation.

As part of the digital design team, my role focused on distilling the essence of Leica’s design philosophy into intuitive interactions within the Android UX/UI framework. The result is a refined digital experience that honours the brand’s heritage while delivering clarity, consistency, and ease of use across all touchpoints.

— Project
The project centered on adapting and customising Android UI components to seamlessly integrate Leica’s distinctive design language into the Leitz Phone 1. Every element of the interface was crafted to reflect the brand’s renowned visual precision and deliver a user experience aligned with its legacy of photographic excellence.

Inspired by the simplicity and focus of Leica cameras, the UI system emphasizes clarity, ease of use, and purposeful interaction. The result is a user-centric experience that enables effortless access to core photographic functions—bridging Leica’s tradition of craftsmanship with the expectations of a modern digital product.
